چکیده

Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to establish a novel rat model for ligamentum flavum (LF) hypertrophy using increased motion lumbar and elucidate the etiology (LFH). Methods A total number 30 male rats were used. induced by surgical resection L5/6 posterior elements ( n = 15). other underwent sham operation (n After 8 weeks, all taken lateral plain X-rays. LF from in both groups harvested investigate histological, immunohistological, real-time PCR analysis. Results According radiological results, disc height ratio, flexion extension ratio larger experimental group than that group. HE staining showed thickness significantly comparison Masson trichrome elastic fibers collagen lower protein gene expression TGF-?1, TNF-?, IL-1?, Col 1 higher Conclusion relatively safe, simple, rapid LFH established. could lead high inflammatory fibrotic factors LF, causing accumulation decreasing fibers.

Experimental Mouse Model of Lumbar Ligamentum Flavum Hypertrophy

Lumbar spinal canal stenosis (LSCS) is one of the most common spinal disorders in elderly people, with the number of LSCS patients increasing due to the aging of the population. The ligamentum flavum (LF) is a spinal ligament located in the interior of the vertebral canal, and hypertrophy of the LF, which causes the direct compression of the nerve roots and/or cauda equine, is a major cause of ...

Hypertrophy of ligamentum flavum in lumbar spinal stenosis associated with increased proteinase inhibitor concentration.

BACKGROUND It is well known that age-related fibrosis, or decreases in the elastin-to-collagen ratio of the ligamentum flavum, along with hypertrophy of the ligamentum flavum, are associated with lumbar spinal stenosis. However, the molecular mechanism by which this fibrosis and hypertrophy develop is unknown. Tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinase (TIMPs) are proteinase inhibitors that ...

Hypertrophy of Ligamentum Flavum in Lumbar Spine Stenosis Is Associated with Increased miR-155 Level

Hypertrophy of ligamentum flavum (LF) contributes to lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) and is caused mainly by fibrosis. Recent data indicate that miR-155 plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of different fibrotic diseases. This study aimed to test the hypothesis that miR-155 exerts effects on LF thickness by regulating collagen expression. We found that LF thickness and the expression of collag...

Ligamentum flavum hematoma in the lumbar spine.

A patient who presented with symptoms suggestive of nerve root compression secondary to an extradural mass was found to have a hematoma in the ligamentum flavum. Pathological examination of surgical specimens revealed an old hemorrhage, and hemosiderin deposits around organized granulation tissue within the ligamentum flavum. Vessels within the ligamentum flavum had, presumably, ruptured during...

Analysis of the Relationship between Hypertrophy of the Ligamentum Flavum and Lumbar Segmental Motion with Aging Process

STUDY DESIGN Retrospective cross-sectional study. PURPOSE To investigate the relationship between ligamentum flavum (LF) hypertrophy and lumbar segmental motion. OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE The pathogenesis of LF thickening is unclear and whether the thickening results from tissue hypertrophy or buckling remains controversial. METHODS 296 consecutive patients underwent assessment of the lumbar...
